PostHeaderIcon S3 Crew needs Team Riders

Want to ride the sickest gear for the sickest team?

With S3 opening in Grande Prairie this July we need to recruit some talent to ride for us (S3 West).

Sponsorships will range from free S3 swag to total hook-ups (the best new gear every year) AND entry-fees to rad contests all over.

Think you have what it takes to ride for S3?? Post a link to your skateboard or snowboard YouTube videos here (or on Facebook) and we'll check it out.

Probably the best way to fast-track your ass to fame and fortune.

Bring it.

PostHeaderIcon Planning, planning, planning, shred. Repeat.

We've been at it non-stop since rolling into Grande Prairie and we're getting so stoked for our doors to open in July!

We're nailing down lines (that you can't buy at Winners, or Below The Belt) and our product mix is looking sick (our clothing buyer kicks ass and we love her. Seriously), and the construction guys are getting stuff done right on sched.

We have a couple design concepts to hammer down, so we're back off to Montreal tomorrow to visit our friends, S3 East, for a few days. We're going to visit some shops, have a few meetings (nail down timelines), and God-willing hit some big mountain pow. While we're out East we're also going to order a crap-load of S3 gear to start giving away back home (tees, hoodies, stickers, skate decks, 'n more!) so keep your eyes peeled to our blog, Facebook and Twitter accounts cause that's where all the hints/contests will be posted!

Gotta jet (still haven't packed... ugh...).

Later skaters.

PostHeaderIcon Cypress Swill: A soggy look at the Olympic snowboard venue

Over the past year, and particularly in the last month, there have been a ton of rumours and innuendo flying around about the pipe events at Cypress. Will they be a repeat of last year's World Cup? Will they have the snow? Will I-Pod unleash and dethrone Shaun White's gold status?
It's anybody's guess at this point but I got a first-hand look at the venue yesterday... in the absolute pouring rain! I'm not talking a little Wet Coast dampness here, I'm talking a torential downpour. Vancouver has been much praised about the promise of a "green" Games, but this is taking it to the extreme. full article

PostHeaderIcon Powder King - Sick

We hear the snow is crazy out in PK so we rolled out this morning.

We're hoping to hit some sick pow and scope out some talent for the first S3 West Crew.

Hoping to find somebody tearin it up out there today.

Stoked.

See ya when we see ya.

PostHeaderIcon Construction and Location

We are excited to announce that the first S3 West location will be opening this July in Grande Prairie, Alberta!

Construction is happening, orders are being placed and we're starting to hire the crew that will be killing it day-in-and-day-out.

Not sure if we can load up the pic we just took with this iPhone, but if we can't, they'll be up soon (if you're rockin in GP you will probably recognize our neighbours).

Rock the party that rocks the party!

PostHeaderIcon Buyin and Team plannin

Hey crew,

Sorry it's been a few days since we've chatted but so much has been going on it's been hard to find time to write.

Our clothing and footwear buyer has been getting orders in with some of the companies we're teaming up with out West (Matix, DVS, Circa, Supra, Krew, Cons, Vestal, Creative Rec, Insight, Quick, Roxy, and the list goes on and on and on) so that's pretty cool.

We also showed up "undercover" at a local snowboard comp to start scopin out talent to ride for S3 starting next season (we're not talking about giving away a few t-shirts here, we're looking for riders we can fully set up with gear, get them noticed, and make them famous!). We saw some pretty sick stuff out there and definatly think we can ink some riders before the snow melts this year!

Lastly, we've got some S3 gear ordered so we can start giving stuff away (we're going to give more threads and decks away then the "other guys" and we aren't even open yet) so keep checking out our blog, Twitter account and Facebook site for hints and contests to get hooked-up!

S3 rocks the party that rocks the party.

PostHeaderIcon The Knowshow

We went straight from Laval to Calgary to attend the huge snowboard (including snowboard fashion) show called the Knowshow. We have spent a few days already and have one more full day today checking out and hammering down brands for 2011.
Last night a couple of us took a little break from work and wentto see Avatar in Imax. Sick. Still can't get over how unreal it was.
Today we're up early to see Ride Snowboards, then also have Gnu, Lib, Forum, Foursquare, Krew, Supra, Circa, Obey, Spy and a few other little brands to see.
Maybe tonight we'll finish with enough time to hit up COP and shred a little.

Later skaters.

PostHeaderIcon The Hangover

We have finished our last day in Laval, had the best ribs and cheddar dip on the planet (thank you Baton Rouge) and now are back in the hotel kickin it. We've decided to watch The Hangover for the hundredth time while we pack up to head back West. This has to be one of the funniest movies of all time.

What's your favorite line?

"What do Tigers dream of?"
"Tigers like pepper, they hate cinnamon"
"In the face! In the face!"

They are all so good.

Tell us.

PostHeaderIcon Roomate Sleeping....

We're out here in Laval visiting our S3 East friends and working hard at getting all the little details sorted for the Grand Opening of our first (of many) S3boardshop out West. It's been a couple long days, but we are really stoked about what we're going to be able to bring Alberta (todays best idea: webcams streaming live-video from our indoor skate-park to our website). It's going to be like taking the best day of your life, and putting it in your at your fingertips.

The other point of this blog is to get ideas for what kind of damage I can do my sleeping roomate. I was sort of thinking about maybe trying the classic "put shaving cream in his hand then tickle his face" trick, or maybe the "hand in a water dish" prank.

Have any ideas?

Let me know and I will try the best suggestion and take some pics!

Sleep easy Canada.

PostHeaderIcon Can't sleep......

With S3's already killing it in Quebec we thought it was time to open some doors out West. We (the new owners of S3 West) have been hanging out in Montreal for the last few days nailing down the final deets on the first new store.
We're pretty excited to be helping take S3 national and we can't wait for Fall 2010 when our first store will open in Northern Alberta. It's going to be filthy.

PostHeaderIcon Travis Pastrana

Pastrana set a record in his car Subaru STI Impreca at the port of Pine Avenue in Long Being in California in the new year’s Red Bull “No Limits” event. Pastrana was driving at a speed of 146 km/h, jumped a total of 82 meters, successfully landing on floating barges. Pastrana is also surpassed the former record (52m) for the entire 30 meters.

“I was pretty nervous the whole day, but when I sat in the car, I felt very calm. It was much funnier than any of my attempts during the preparation and when I landed, the wall of the stop is close very quickly “, said the visibly excited Pastrana after the jump.

“I am happy that I didn’t finish in the water,” said Pastrana.

PostHeaderIcon Shaun White Takes First Grand Prix

It was a showdown like nothing the snowboard world had seen before. After battling some challenging conditions with blowing snows and winds, Shaun White fought his way through a stiff set of competition to take the first US Grand Prix and position himself for capturing a spot within the US Olympic team.

Shaun was looking down the barrel of some huge double corks as he put it all on the line in his first run going huge frontside air into backside 900 and then blasting out with a frontside double cork 1080 which he linked into a cab double cork 1080 and then into a frontside 1080 and finished with a super smooth cab 1080.

This run was quite possibly the highest level of snowboarding that we have seen in the sport's history and although there were some stiff competitors like Louie Vito, Shaun stayed ahead of the pack and continued to push forward.

Another Red Bull rider that put down some of the best riding of his career was Greg Bretz. After stomping his first run of the day, on his second run he really left it all out on the course throwing a huge frontside double cork. Although he stomped the trick, he tweaked his ankle on the landing affecting his last trick and his overall score. Greg still placed high in 6th place, earning him points towards and Olympic spot and setting him up for a showdown in his hometown at the next two Grand Prix's in Mammoth Lakes, CA.

As the sport moves into the ear of the double cork, Shaun is leading the charge with the tricks that he learned at Red Bull Project X last season in Silverton Mountain, CO.

PostHeaderIcon The B

Behold for the Burton Team, the 2009 season started just like any other- resort and heli laps from New Zealand to North America and Europe, pipe, park, backcountry, and Stash runs, with riders leaving their mark at every stop. The snow-covered streets of Salt Lake, Minneapolis and sleepy European villages were explored. Corks were doubled and rails were combo’d as waves of winter storms cleaned and set a new slate for mission after successful mission. It was another dream season, but something was different this time. Something bigger, and more iconic, something so over the top that the movie had to bear its name. Jeremy Jones
